AGAPE

Alumni - Giving And Praying Educators

Of course, agape refers to God's selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love for us. The theme of "giving" and "praying" refers to 2 of the main ways educators can connect or reconnect to the work of MK education.

This page and links on this page connect to resources related to giving and praying for UIS educators - past, present, and future.

Wycliffe Bible Translators - USA

Wycliffe has a general web site sharing about the overall work of Bible Translation.

For opportunities for prayer and financial support I am including a link to the page that lists the personnel on the site requesting partnership development help. You can search by geographic region, but it does not have a function where you can search specifically for educators. However, you can browse through individual profiles and find those involved in MK education. I will also try to pass on any information I can get on educators in the field or trying to raise funds and prayer support to get to the field.

UPDATE ON LEAH

Info from a few recent emails:

1)I received word that my visa has been approved! God is so good! Thank you for lifting this request up in prayer this week. I am excited to get back to Papua New Guinea very soon and greet all my wonderful students as they head back to school!

All that’s left is waiting to receive my passport from the PNG Embassy with my visa inside. That should happen in the next week, and then I will be ready to board a flight to PNG!

Stay tuned for updates on my travels. See you soon, Papua New Guinea!!!

2)

There have been some issues with the PNG Embassy receiving my approval from immigration, so it's looking like I might not get to Ukarumpa until next week.

But I am trusting in God's timing. I know it will all work out, even if it means arriving after the school year starts.

3)

Just wanted to give a quick update!

I received my passport in the mail on Thursday, just in time for me to leave for PNG this weekend! This means that I will make it to Papua New Guinea in time for the start of the school year, which is a huge answer to prayer! I am writing this email from the airport as I await my flight! :)

Thank you for all your prayers, support, and words of encouragement. I definitely would not be in this position without a great team of financial and prayer partners.

4)

Greetings from Papua New Guinea!

I just wanted to send a quick update to say I made it safely to PNG on Monday of this week. I have been focusing on settling in at home and starting to organize my classroom for the school year! School started on Wednesday, but the administration has graciously organized other activities for my students this week so I can focus on planning and setting up my teaching space.

I will be teaching English Language Arts for 5th grade (reading, writing, spelling, grammar) and Science for 2nd – 5th grade.

Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement during my travels!

Two specific prayer requests for this week:

  1. Pray that my 2nd suitcase arrives. I brought two and only one showed up when I arrived in PNG. I’m sure the other one will come shortly, but I still haven’t received any word about it.
  2. Pray that I will be able to catch up on rest and have the brain space to plan well so that I will be able to start off strong with teaching next week.

That’s all for now!

Blessings,

Leah
